BAUDELAIRE LAUNCHES NEW RECYCLABLE GIFT PACKAGING

Company Offers Popular Guest Soaps and New Travel Size Personal Care Kit
in Convenient, Beautiful "Eco-Friendly" Gift Box

KEENE, NH - July 2001    Baudelaire, a leading importer of fine European soaps and body care products and long time supporter and advocate of reusable and environmentally-safe packaging, recently introduced two new products attractively packaged in recyclable RPET boxes. Baudelaire's new Provence Santé guest soaps gift box and "Now, you can take it with you" travel kit is packaged in recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET), a type of plastic growing in popularity amongst manufacturers and consumers for its beauty, diversity and earth-friendly attributes. This is the first time that Baudelaire has introduced packaging made from recycled material that is also recyclable. The new packaging proudly carries the #1 PET labeling marker making the boxes as easy to recycle as a two-liter soda bottle, and with packaging so beautiful and durable consumers may choose to reuse instead.

"Baudelaire has made a conscious and concerted effort over the years to use packaging that was either reusable or environmentally friendly," said Joe Marks, President of Baudelaire, Inc.   "So, when presented with a gift box we really liked the look of but were told it could only be made using Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), we adamantly refused and began the hunt for a recycled packaging material. We quickly learned about PET from the experts at National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR). Discovering a recycled PET that can be recycled again was the icing on the cake."

PET products (for items such as soft drinks, water, juice, salad dressing and oil) have steadily gained in popularity because they meet the qualifications for #1 bottle labeling, making them universally acceptable at plastic and bottle recycling centers, and easy for consumers to dispose of responsibly.

"NAPCOR is pleased that Baudelaire has recognized the recyclability of PET plastic and has chosen PET to package its products," exclaims Luke B. Schmidt, President of NAPCOR.

Sense and Sensibility

The fabled fragrances of Provence in the South of France are the basis of Baudelaire's line of Provence Santé bath and personal care products, including soaps, body lotions, shower gels, bath salts, shampoos and eau de toilette.   Popular amongst consumers since their introduction, Baudelaire's Provence Santé mini guest soaps can now be enjoyed in a beautiful, recyclable gift box that includes six individually wrapped soaps in three distinctive fragrances, Lavender, Linden and Vervain.   Perfect for gift giving or adding to your bathroom decor, Provence Santé guest soaps in recyclable gift box is available at the suggested retail price of $9.00.

For those on the go, portability is a must.   And Baudelaire's new "Now, you can take it with you" travel collection contains four 1.7oz shatter- proof, convenient travel size PET bottles containing shower gel, lotion, conditioner and shampoo. So taking your favorite Baudelaire bath and body care products on the road is fun, easy and eco-friendly. Baudelaire's " Now, you can take it with you" also comes in an attractive recyclable gift box and is available at the suggested retail price of  $19.00.

"We are very pleased to join the small but growing ranks of manufacturers in the personal care industry choosing PET. Our signature new Provence Santé guest soap gift box and "Now, you can take it with you" travel kit allows our consumers to indulge with a conscience," said Marks.

PET can be recycled to make many new products such as long underwear, athletic shoes, luggage, sweaters building materials and automotive parts such as bumpers, grilles and door panels, and new PET containers for both food and non-food products.
